About

Our Story

In 2002, at the Chambrier Polyclinic in Libreville, Gabon, our founder Salim Kandedi was born at 23 weeks of gestational age.

He was fortunate enough to receive comprehensive care and monitoring, so that, against all odds, he survived, lived, and thrived.

In 2024, Leah Ritchie and Leah McIntyre approached Salim with a challenge. First Steps Health Society needed a portable and durable neonatal incubator for deployment in the most remote of areas.

Upon further research, he found that hospitals in North America were struggling as well, and faced overwhelming operational and scaling costs.

With the realization that quality NICU care had gotten him to where he was, he was determined to build a solution, and Corvita Biomedical was born.

Our Mission

Corvita Biomedical is building an intelligent all-in-one neonatal incubator to help NICUs facing high scaling and operational costs, by automating infant monitoring using computer vision and AI.
